Welcome to the blog sharing the journey we are on of growing our family through adoption, as well as what life is like after the adoption has finalized.

There is a section where you can read some FAQs, check out the process we will be going through...as well as the blog posts filled with humor, joy, as well as probably some frustrations along the way!

Once again, welcome and let's enjoy the ride!!

Richard Delany

This is an author of some books I desperately need to read but more importantly he was the speaker at a training I went to through DHS yesterday!

The name of this conference was Adopting Children with Complex Histories- Strategies for Parents. Sounds perfect right? Well it was! There were so many meaningful and resourceful things there for me but one stood out the most.

He used the analogy of dance. He said adopting a child with a complex history is like partner dancing in pitch dark. You and your children were taught different steps, are now partnered up and are trying to dance as one. Toes are getting stepped on, who's leading who, and a constant pushing and pulling exists. Just when you feel like you are making progress the moves change slightly.

I truly appreciated this analogy because it speaks so true to my heart and the feelings I cannot express. Anyway, more thoughts to come on this I'm sure.
