There are so many befits to starting with just one child but recently I've been trying to focus on the befits of two children at one time...
1. Power of Positive Reinforcement: What worked for my second graders has proven to be my most powerful tool as a mom. I can say "Wow, Dom you are doing a great job sitting and reading that book so nice" to encourage Eli to do what I've asked. I would have used this even if we only had one child at a time but it would have been weird saying "Wow, Daddy, you are doing a great job reading that book so nice!"
2. Both boys had delayed speech and now they are soaring. They talk to, with, and about each other all day long in whispers, shouts, laughter and tears:)
3. In the same way they also help me understand what they are saying. It's amazing how toddlers perfectly understand each other.
4. Play: They are amazing and being inspired by each other through play. Each of my sons has very distinct interests but at times they need a little umph to get going with their play. Often they start by imitating then it spins off to their own interest and imagination version of it.
5. The challenge: It's like doing acrobatics some times getting these two from point a to point b but it's fun!
There are many more but at this moment they are fighting over a really cool telescope that Aunt Kim got them for Easter so it's time to stop typing:)
Welcome to the blog sharing the journey we are on of growing our family through adoption, as well as what life is like after the adoption has finalized.
There is a section where you can read some FAQs, check out the process we will be going through...as well as the blog posts filled with humor, joy, as well as probably some frustrations along the way!
Once again, welcome and let's enjoy the ride!!
